The artist condemns the pervasive violence that plagues their existence. The illustration depicts the Taliban’s suffocating influence, symbolized by a cover being pulled over the artist, denying her access to education. On one side, a gun serves as a stark reminder of the threat she faces, while on the other, broken pencils signify the stifled freedom of expression. Despite these challenges, the girl proudly wears her culturally red Hazara dress and her personal Hijab. At the same time, the Taliban’s oppressive restrictions attempt to suppress her from practicing her version of Islam.
